-- April 24, 2010 – Susan gave her presentation, “Changes” at the Society of Women Engineers' (SWE) chapter at the University of Illinois Chicago. Susan's "Changes" presentation highlights the many benefits of an engineering degree. She tells of the personal satisfaction and freedom that one experiences as an engineer and how the young women attending, as engineers would be among the elite group that is literally responsible for nearly everything that we use and touch today. This responsibility gives them the ability and power to change people's lives, not just one person at a time but to change the lives of hundreds or even thousande of people at a time.

-- March 23, 2010 – Susan gave her presentation, “Changes”at the Quad Cities/Muscatine Section of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). The Quad Cities Engineering and Science Council, and the collegiate interest group from Saint Ambrose University of Davenport, IA was also attending. Her “Changes” Presentation focuses on the many benefits of an engineering degree. She told of the personal satisfaction and freedom that one experiences as an engineer and how the young women attending, as engineers would be among the elite group that is literally responsible for nearly everything that we use and touch today, which gives them the power to change the world.

-- March 2, 2010 - Susan took part on a panel at Young Women's Leadership Charter School of Chicago. She spoke of the many benefits of an engineering degree. Susan told of the personal and professional freedom that one experiences as an engineer and how the young women attending, as engineers would be among the elite group that is literally responsible for nearly everything that we use and touch today. Most importantly, she stressed how important it is for the students to “stay in their seat and to not give up”, the world needs them.

-- November 14, 2009 – Susan spoke at the University of Illinois' 22nd Annual ACAA Leadership Exchange in their program entitled “Building a Legacy of Leadership”. Her presentation, “Effective Presentations” is based on her soon to be released book “PODIUM PANIC”. Susan targets those with a fear of public speaking, giving them tips on: organization, preparation, presentation methods, personal image projection, and provides Susan’s “FEAR FIGHTERS” to empower one to successfully deliver an effective presentation.

-- November 12, 2009 – Susan was interviewed by Jim Fitzpatrick during his 5:00 to 7:00 pm, drive time radio program which is carried throughout the Bloomington-Normal area in Illinois on WJBC Radio at AM 1230 and carried live stream at www.wjbc.com. They spoke about the importance of calling attention to domestic violence and the fact that “We Just Don't Talk About It”. And about her autobiography, Just Keep Dancing. It is an odyssey of abuse and triumph that describes Susan's 20 year relationship and marriage to her childhood sweetheart and how that relationship turned abusive and ultimately violent and dangerous; the pivotal event that changed everything; what can happen when one begins to make positive changes in their life; and that “it truly is never too late to live happily ever after”.

-- November 6, 2009 – Susan spoke at the “Stop the Violence” workshop sponsored by Bremen High School District 228 and held at Tinley Park High School in Tinley Park, Illinois. Susan
addressed violence and the cycle of abuse in which many
feel they're caught, quoting select excerpts from her award
winning autobiography, “JUST KEEP DANCING”. She described some of the events in her own life and her 20 year relationship and marriage to her childhood sweetheart. Susan told how that relationship turned abusive and ultimately violent and dangerous; the pivotal event that changed everything; what can happen when one begins to make positive changes in their life; and that “it truly is never too late to live happily ever after”.

-- November 4, 2009 – Susan was facilitator of a Mini Robot workshop at one of the breakout session at the Southside HerWorld event which is held each year. The goal of this event is specifically to help high school girls learn more about career opportunities in business, technology and science.
Margaret Chadwick, a DeVry admissions representative, said the conference helps empower women. “Women need to know their opportunities,” she said, “and science and technology are great options.”

-- OCTOBER 16, 2009 – October is “National Domestic Violence Awareness Month” and Susan was interviewed by Mike Sanders on his radio program “Our Town” which is carried on Chicago’s Progressive Talk. They spoke about her odyssey of abuse and triumph, Just Keep Dancing; her 20 year relationship and marriage to her childhood sweetheart and how that relationship turned abusive and ultimately violent and dangerous; the pivotal event that changed everything; what can happen when one begins to make positive changes in their life; and that “it truly is never too late to live happily ever after”.

-- June 6 and 7, 2009 – During the 2009 Printers Row Lit Fest, the largest book fair in the Midwest, Susan met a great number of booklovers while participating with other authors at the Illinois Woman’s Press Association (IWPA) booth.
We would like to extend a thank you the Chicago Tribune organization, and to the people of this wonderful city for making the Printers Row Lit Fest such a rewarding experience.

-- April 18, 2009 – Susan Brauer, Dean of Technology at DeVry University and author of Just Keep Dancing, delivered the Keynote address entiteled “Changes” at the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) held the 2009 SWE-CRS Professional Development Conference which was hosted at the spacious BP campus in Naperville, IL. The theme for this year's conference was “Success Strategies for Tough Times”.
Susan also presented “Podium Panic” tips for Effective Presentations in a break out session later on that day.

KEEP DANCING: THE POWER OF CHANGE”, Susan
spoke of domestic violence and the cycle of abuse in which many

presentation that focused on the growing demand for women in
Engineering roles, Susan spoke to the women students highlighting
some of the many benefits that would be available to them if
they choose a career in the Engineering field. She encouraged the
students that found the disciplines of math and science interesting,
to pursue that dream and become one of those responsible for the
creation of nearly everything that we use today, an Engineer.
