Quoting select excerpts from her award winning autobiography, Just Keep Dancing, Susan focused on abusive relationships and the cycle of abuse in which many feel they're caught while emphasizing the fact that there is always hope for a better life, and that “It truly is never too late to live happily ever after.”

-- December 23, 2011 – For her presentation “Just Keep Dancing”, which addresses teen and domestic violence, Susan received the “Volunteer Excellence Award” thanking her for sharing her time and talents which helped to provide a positive environment for students. The award was presented to Susan by the Board of Education of Bremen High School District 228.

-- December 12, 2011 – December 12, 2011 – Susan participated on the Women in STEM Education Expert Discussion panel presented by DeVry University, Chicago. Represented on this panel were Illinois Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Veronica Arreola from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Carmen Lilley from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Cathy Pieronek from University of Notre Dame college of Engineering, and Susan Brauer from DeVry University, Chicago Metro.

-- October 16, 2009 – October is “National Domestic Violence Awareness Month” and Susan was interviewed by Mike Sanders on his radio program Our Town which is carried on Chicago’s Progressive Talk. They spoke about her odyssey of abuse and triumph, Just Keep Dancing; her 20 year relationship and marriage to her childhood sweetheart and how that relationship turned abusive and ultimately violent and dangerous; the pivotal event that changed everything; what can happen when one begins to make positive changes in their life; and that “it truly is never too late to live happily ever after”.

-- OCTOBER 6 and 7, 2009 - Susan spoke at the Purdue University Women in Engineering Program's, Exciting Discovery for Girls in Engineering (EDGE). Her Changes Presentation focused on the many benefits of an engineering degree. Susan told of the personal satisfaction and freedom that one experiences as an engineer and how the young women attending, as engineers would be among the elite group that is literally responsible for nearly everything that we use and touch today. Most importantly, she stressed how important it is for the students to “stay in their seat and to not give up”, the world needs them.

-- June 6 and 7, 2009 – At the Chicago Tribune's 2009 Printers Row Lit Fest, the largest book fair in the Midwest, Susan met a great number of booklovers while participating with other authors at the Illinois Woman’s Press Association (IWPA) booth.

-- April 18, 2009 – Susan Brauer, Dean of Technology at DeVry University and author of Just Keep Dancing, delivered the Keynote address entitled Changes at the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) 2009 SWE-CRS Professional Development Conference which was hosted at the spacious BP campus in Naperville, IL. The theme for this year's conference was “Success Strategies for Tough Times”.

-- November 5, 2008 – National Louis University, Elgin, Illinois: In her presentation and discussion “Just Keep Dancing: The Power of Change”, Susan spoke of domestic violence and the cycle of abuse in which many women feel they're caught, quoting select excerpts from her award winning autobiography, Just Keep Dancing. She then described some of the events of her own life and twenty year relationship and marriage to an abusive spouse, including the encounter that caused her to ultimately realize the power of change by taking control of her life

-- November 4, 2008 – Queen of Peace High School, Burbank, Illinois: Susan Putzler Brauer, a 1966 alumna, received the Truth Award. As a mother of six, scholar, author, and electrical engineer who went back to school at age 35, she serves as a model for all women, advocating tirelessly for women’s equality by providing a beacon of hope for women to break down the barriers that confine and demean.
Currently, Susan is spearheading the creation of an Alum Engineer Association and implementation of The Infinity Project to help raise awareness of the opportunities available to Peace students in the field of engineering.

-- October 18, 2008 – Westside Communities Development Town Hall Meeting, Exposition, & Conference held at Chicago's Austin Polytechnical: Susan spoke about the importance of having a world-class education system as a pre-requisite for achieving the goals to both, meet the needs of companies for a highly educated and innovative workforce and to provide working citizens with clear career paths in all aspects of advanced manufacturing.

-- June 7 and 8, 2008 – During the 2008 Printers Row Book Fair, the largest book fair in the Midwest, booklovers met authors and appreciated the vast diversity of Illinois writing at the Illinois Woman’s Press Association booth.

-- April 16, 2008 – Queen of Peace High School, Burbank, Illinois: In a presentation that focused on the growing demand for women in Engineering roles, Susan spoke to the women students highlighting some of the many benefits that would be available to them if they choose a career in the Engineering field. She encouraged the students that found the disciplines of math and science interesting, to pursue that dream and become one of those responsible for the creation of nearly everything that we use today, an Engineer.
